ISDIN Fusion Water SPF 50+ Review and thoughts
Definitely my favourite
sunscreen to date. I’ve tried an array of products over the years and this is
the 2nd that left a very good impression. The first one, by the way,
was The Body Shop’s sunscreen for the body that
existed over 15 years ago, when I was still a teenager. The reason: after my
usual beach period in the summer, not forgetting I was a stupid teenager that
didn’t care about the sun that much, I was the exact same colour as before. No
bikini marks anywhere and no tan! Most people like to tan, but I like to enjoy
the beach without tanning.
I cannot say for sure that
the ISDIN Fusion Water does the same,
because as soon as the sun starts warming up in Spring, I either wear hats (if
you see someone wearing a hat on the street it’s probably me, nobody else wears
them) or hide in the shade. What makes me love this sunscreen is it’s velvet touch and light formula. It really
mattifies the skin even when wearing foundation. Actually, your foundation
would have to be more on the liquid side, very easy to spread and more
appropriate for normal skin. Using a liquid foundation for oily skin on top of
this didn’t’ really work for me. That being said, it doesn’t
dry out the skin. When you apply it, it feels very good and
moisturizing. Just perfect!
Very easy to spread
No white cast and oil-free meaning
there is no shine after blending
All was well until I
bumped into a German site, a few weeks ago, that analyses ingredients in
cosmetics called CodeCheck. This particular product, like many from that brand,
contains Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, a substance that is related to endocrine
disruption, as a second ingredient since it’s the UV filter. The Age Repair
Fusion Water has the same problem, as do a few others. Searching online you can
find numerous articles and posts about this substance and explaining how it
doesn’t just sit on your skin and gets absorbed, but it’s allowed in cosmetics
up to a certain percentage. However, this still made me rethink my skin care
routine and I decided that applying such a substance every single day on my
face for years and years, might not be the best choice.
I understand that
sometimes these themes are prone to exaggeration, but if alternatives exist,
why not try them out? With that though in mind, I found a new product to try,
from the immense bio cosmetics range that is now available. I’ve tried it a
couple of times on my neck, just to make sure and there was no allergic
reaction. The difference: it most certainly IS NOT
MATTIFYING and so I’m a bit scared to put it on my face… But I will.
Hopefully it holds up good with makeup and in the summer, mineral powder
foundation might be a better option.
I’m going to miss this
product and the brand in general, because to be honest, I have always trusted
pharmacy brands blindly and that is something that should never happen. Even with
these new bio cosmetics I started to check and search information on the
ingredients beforehand, just to make sure.
